NEW BOOK FROM AUTHOR TROY TAYLOR! This is a special mailing of the newsletter to announce the release of the new, revised and updated edition of Troy Taylor's classic book FLICKERING IMAGES, which was first written 10 years ago about the haunted Avon Theater in Decatur, Illinois. Out of print for more than 5 years, Troy has updated and revised the book with more history and many new tales of ghosts and hauntings at this 1916 theater. As announced in the last newsletter, Troy took over the operations of the theater earlier this year and thought this summer would be the perfect time to release a new and updated book about the Avon's haunted history. The special event with Troy Taylor that was postponed from early July now has a new date -- Friday night, September 2 at the Avon Theater! That night, at 10:30 PM, Troy will be presenting the infamous ST. FRANCISVILLE EXPERIMENT at the Avon Theater's Late Night Spookshow in Decatur, Illinois. Admission is FREE! Unlike our other Spookshows, where he hosts the movie and offers an introduction, this time he'll be offering a running commentary throughout this unintentionally hilarious horror movie. That's going to include his own role in the film, behind the scenes information about the filming, and what really occurred to bring this convoluted paranormal movie to the screen. You may have noticed in the last issue of the newsletter that we had planned a ghost hunt in September at the famed Route 66 icon, the Coliseum Ballroom in Benld, Illinois. Readers may be familar with this location from some of Troy's books and may be aware of the buildings historic -- and haunted-- value. Unfortunately, the Ballroom burned on July 30 and was a total loss, closing a chapter on musical, mobster, haunted and Route 66 history in Illinois. | |
