There are many tales of ghost ships that ply the seas: phantom ships that appear after sinking, ships whose crews have mysteriously disappeared, ships that vanish into thin air, and more.
| Another monolith on Mars
Yet another monolith-like structure has been discovered on the surface of Mars from a picture snapped by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The picture seems to show a tall rectangular structure, looking for all the world like the mysterious monolith found on the moon in the film "2001: A Space Odyssey". Jonathon Hill, a research technician at the Mars Space Flight Facility, contends that it is just a boulder that happens to look rectangular, but probably is not. What do you think?

| Confronted by Ball Lightning
"When I was 16 in 2007, I lived in a small town in Indiana," reports Lauren. "I was in my room asleep and woke up at 4:30 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep. I was walking down the hall to the stairs to get a drink. I felt cold, and when I turned I saw a ball of light. It appeared out of our game closet. I froze and watched it. It made a swirl, then flew through the wall that went into the bathroom. I ran into my room, turned the light on, and stayed the whole night. I have seen little glimmers of this again in the hall while we lived there." Read more.
