From Stephen Wagner, your Guide to Paranormal
When I've been on investigations with ghost hunting groups, certain people always seemed to be able to get good EVP while others got nothing. And I don't think the people who succeeded were cheating either; there was just something about them that enabled them to record those voices. Maybe you're one of them. If you haven't already tried it, see this week's feature on EVP recording. I also answer reader questions and voice my apprehension about a possible consequence of an announced new TV show about exorcisms. I welcome your opinion, too.

How To Record EVP
Electronic voice phenomena (EVP) is the recording of mysterious voices from an unknown source. Ghost researchers often capture these voices during investigations, but you don't have to belong to a ghost hunting group to give it a try. Here's how.

Footsteps and voices: What is going on?
"We are sure we have something in our house and could really do with your help," writes Pete. "We have experienced footsteps around the house, things being moved, unexplained voices, and being touched. Both my partner and I have woken up with unexplained marks on our bodies and we would really like to get to the bottom of what's going on as it is starting to affect our lives." Read my answer.

The Exorcist Files: Why this is a really bad idea
The Discovery Channel recently announced a new TV show called The Exorcist Files, which it plans on premiering sometime in the Spring of 2011. According to press information for the show, it will "recreate stories of 'real life' haunting and demonic possession, based on cases investigated by the Catholic Church." This is a really bad idea. Why? Because as a result we're going to see the emergence of a lot of self-proclaimed exorcists and demonologists trying to copy what they see on TV. That could be disastrous.
